Applications include the use of transmitters on vehicles such as Haul-packs to pre-warn other vehicles of their approach and activate traffic priority lights at crossings. Systems with remote controlled vehicle operations can operate the 'kill switch' when the vehicle is in close proximity to operations or other hazards.
Due to the danger of Haul Packs and smaller vehicles operating in close proximity without clear visibility, the system can provide a 'two-zone' warning. i.e.
Zone 1 is set to Primary range with Zone 2 as Secondary range to allow progressive warning to closing proximity of vehicles.
Case Study: Accidents occurring due to single lane bridge at a Qld mine.
The solution: EV Alert installed a VHF Transceiver with a range of up to 500mtrs to operate a traffic light system on the single lane bridge at the open cut mine. In addition to this a UHF system with a range of 0-40mtrs has been installed in the smelter area to protect maintenance crews on the ground from overhead cranes.
