Vehicle Proximity and Collision Warning Solutions for Industrial, Road and Rail Applications
EV Alert was developed in the early 80's as a device to warn road users of an approaching emergency vehicle. Other applications led to rail, mining and warehousing installations. During 2001 research and development commenced for the collision avoidance system (EVCAD) following a request from New Zealand Forestry to reduce head-on situations with logging trucks on forest tracks.
Radio Based Hazard Warning
Conventional 'sight and sound' are no longer reliable enough to prevent accidents. There are simply too many audible and visual barriers in the workplace and on the roads.
Industrial premises, mining, agriculture, forestry and other workplaces have noise, blind corners, doorways, crops or vegetation blocking line of sight or forming barriers to the identification of approaching vehicles, machinery or other hazards.
On the roads, drivers cannot see or hear many hazards until it is too late. Today's sound-proofed vehicles with air-conditioning, windows closed, stereo systems and mobile phones, prevent effective communication of audible signs, sirens or horns. Other traffic, blind corners, poor weather conditions or simply fatigue or lack of attention all make visual warning less reliable.
